Why
I have too many hobbies so often I spread myself thin. Sometimes I let things I really enjoy get the back burner and have to force motivate myself to give them more attention. Photography is one of those hobbies. I would consider myself a semi-not-so-very-serious amature photographer. I have some of the skills and knowledge, but I just don’t give it enough attention. I have had this domain for a long time and the photos that were on it until today had been there for three years with no updates. This photo blog is my attempt to reboot my Photography a bit.
Interests
I really enjoy candid types of photography and just everyday things. I have made many attempts at serious photography of people, still life, landscapes and the like, but I guess I just don’t enjoy contrived photos as much as stuff you just put together or experiment with. I love shooting people, places and things. What you probably won’t see here is studio photography, serious macro photography or loads of sweeping black and white landscapes.
Gear
I am a Canon guy. I have been since the Digital Rebel came out in 2003. Prior to that I never really gave photography any thought. Today I use a Canon 40D Digital SLR with a portrait/battery grip. My lens selection is a Canon 28-135 IS USM, Canon 100mm f2.8 Macro, Canon 50mm f1.8 prime, Sigma 10-20mm Wide Angle and Canon 75-300 USM lens. I have the 430EX series flash and a Bogen/Manfrotto tripod with a couple heads for different situations.
I do my editing on either an Apple Macbook Pro or Apple Mac Pro using Adobe Lightroom 2.0 or Adobe Photoshop CS4.
Goals
I want to shoot more. I want to learn more. I want to grow as a photographer. I have a decent technical knowledge of the camera and software, and a good idea of composition. I hope you enjoy watching my photos get better.
Influences
I love the work of several photographers and are lucky enough to know and have learned a bit from a few of them. There is no point listing all the big names, but some smaller ones you might also appreciate are:
